Siri and Me

Working for a wireless company, I get to play with cell phones all day.  But now, the fun you can have with phones has gone to a whole new level.  We all know you can play games, facebook, check email take awesome pictures.  But did you know that your phone can now have its own personality?  Enter iPhone 4S, and its A-List personal assistant, Siri.

Never heard of Siri?  Well, she’s all the rage right now!  She’s even starring in a new movie:

Just kidding. But it wouldn’t be the first time Artificial Intelligence has revolted against humanity in the films (that would be 2001: A Space Odyssey).  So, what is Siri?  Apple describes her as,

Siri is the intelligent personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. It allows you to use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. But Siri isn’t like traditional voice recognition software that requires you to remember keywords and speak specific commands. Siri understands your natural speech, and it asks you questions if it needs more information to complete a task.

Siri uses the processing power of the dual-core A5 chip in iPhone 4S, and it uses 3G and Wi-Fi networks to communicate rapidly with Apple’s data centers. So it can quickly understand what you say and what you’re asking for, then quickly return a response.

I like Siri.  Very useful and pretty entertaining.  She and I have been hanging out a lot lately and here’s some screen shots of our conversations.

She’s a funny girl!  🙂  Try asking the Siri on your iPhone 4S some questions and see if you can get her personality to come out.  Then post the screenshots on my facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/CordovaBuzz and I’ll add them to this slideshow with photo credit to you!
